Human Rights in action

Human Rights in action

Human Rights in Action commenced in 2011, the International Year of Youth inspired by the pivotal role of young people in the Arab Spring movement. Central to its ethos is the belief that empowering young individuals with the right tools enables them to emerge as effective agents of social change.

The Human Rights in Action program extends over a six-month period, providing a comprehensive exploration of human rights theory and practical methodologies, along with the empowerment to initiate community projects. It commences with an immersive week at the UN Headquarters in Geneva, where participants gain insights into the human rights framework and project management skills from our seasoned experts. Subsequently, participants undertake the development of their own projects aimed at advancing human rights within their communities.

Through our partnership

Through our partnership with WFUNA’s human rights training program, we empower young leaders to enact change within their communities. The program is known for its top-notch training sessions in Geneva, a meticulous participant selection process, and the robust on-the-ground support offered by WFUNA’s network of national United Nations Associations. Most importantly, this program provides a concrete avenue for participants to apply theory to real-world situations by executing their own projects, leveraging the skills and knowledge acquired during the training.
